Bathinda, May 2 – Former union minister and Bathinda MP Harsimrat Kaur Badal today appealed to women to ask the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) to first give Rs 24,000 due to each woman as per the Rs 1,000 per month promised made to them by AAP and then seek their votes.

The Bathinda MP, who toured several villages in Bathinda Rural constituency along with senior leader Parkash Singh Bhatti, said “thousands of women opened bank accounts in the hope that they will start receiving Rs 1,000 per month. It has been more than two years now since the AAP government came into power but chief minister Bhagwant Mann has forgotten about this promise. It is high time you remind the ‘jhadoo wali’ party about this promise and demand Rs 24,000 due to each of you is deposited in your accounts before they come seeking your votes”.

Asserting women alone had not been betrayed by AAP, Mrs Harsimrat Badal said “farmers were also promised that they would be given Rs 25,000 per acre interim relief in advance before completion of girdawari to assess crop losses. Forget doing this, the AAP government has not paid any compensation to farmers for crop losses due to floods and hail storms for two years now”.

Warning the people to beware of AAP as well as the Congress, Mrs Badal said “both these parties have formed an alliance at the national level and are trying to fool you by fighting separately in Punjab”. She asserted a vote for AAP would be a vote for the Congress and vice versa. Asserting that both parties had ruined Punjab, the Bathinda MP said the erstwhile Congress government promised to rid the State of drugs in four weeks while AAP promised to do so in ten days. “However we are witnessing even home delivery of drugs in the AAP regime because its legislators patronize the drug mafia and take monthlies from them”.

Urging the people not to be swayed by false propaganda, Mrs Badal urged them to evaluate the work done by the Congress and AAP governments with that of the erstwhile SAD government. “Both the Congress and AAP do not have one single achievement or major infrastructure project to their credit while the SAD can proudly claim to have given free power facility to farmers besides introducing novel social welfare benefits like old age pension, atta-daal and shagun schemes’ ‘. She asserted that even the benefits of schemes introduced by S Parkash Singh Badal had been reduced like in the case of atta-dal in which the SAD government provided 30 kg of wheat which was reduced to 15 kg by the Congress government and now the AAP government was giving only 5 kg of flour. She also highlighted how several benefits including monetary aid for cancer treatment and cycles for girl students had been closed by the AAP government.
